Why a group of teachers participating in the initiatives to celebrate the March 8 ?
What is the link between the school and the Women's Day?
bonds are more than one, actually. First, there is a historical reason. On March 8, improperly called 'Women's Day', remembers a massacre of workers occurred in the early twentieth century. Not exactly a festive event.
And even today, in our country in the XXI century, in a so-called advanced Western society, there is little to celebrate. The inequalities are obvious and are visible to everyone. The representation of women in so-called 'power' is absolutely marginal, violence against women is on the agenda, unemployment women, especially in the South, has reached record levels.
But as teachers, we are mainly concerned / and the message 'culture' that is moving to the country. For some time the TV images convey continuous references to the 'female subject', the woman who is related to another only as a body, only so seductive. Recent news reports also have served to reinforce a simple message and brutal that it could be summarized as follows: woman has only to your body and you will be rewarded by the powers that be.
Because we carry a message other than the dominant one, because we believe in alternative values, because we have much to say about the future of our country.
If not now, when?
